Manus police have arrested and charged 24 suspects for their alleged involvement in a murder of one man from Panuselu village, Rambutso Island on last month.
Manus Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector David Yapu said the suspects arrested are from Rapatona LLG.
PPC Yapu said the suspects allegedly chased the victim into the bush and attacked him with bush knives,sticks and stones resulting in the victim sustaining injures to his head and parts of his body.
He said the victim was accused of allegedly stabbing one of their relative. The victim was transported on boat to Lorengau General Hospital but died on the way at sea.
The suspects ages from 16 to 52 years appeared in Lorengau Committal Court on Friday were their cases were further adjourned to Wednesday.
PPC Yapu appealed to villages at Rambutso Island to remain calm and not to take law into their hands and cause further trouble as the matter is with Police.
