ARMED MEN HOLD UP OIL PALM COMPANY IN WEST SEPIK PROVINCE

"The armed robbery was a planned one where the gang was armed with 4 pistols and a high powered rifle."

An 8 men gang held up an Oil Palm company in Imbio West Sepik Province and made away with an undisclosed amount of cash.  

West Sepik Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector Moses Ibsagi said the armed robbery was a planned one where the gang was armed with 4 pistols and a high powered rifle.  

Chief Inspector Ibsagi said a quick response from police saw the arrest of 3 suspects.

He said upon interrogation, the suspects revealed that the gang was a mixture of group based in Lae and Wewak including locals that carried out the robbery.

He added that one of the suspect’s was a known criminal from Lae with strings of criminal activities. The police are on the lookout for the other five suspects on the run.  

Meanwhile, PPC Ibsagi said four other suspects have been apprehended by Aitape police following an alleged wilful murder.  

The suspects have been detained at the Aitape Police cell and will be transferred to Vanimo to be processed.

In a separate incident, a man has also being arrested for rape and has being detained with the four suspects.
