Central Police are now investigating a murder case that resulted in aggrieved relatives clashing with five houses burnt down, food crops destroyed and a woman sustaining injury.
Police said the incident occurred last week Tuesday at the Manumanu-Pinu junction along the Hiritano Highway.
From reports on ground, the killing was a retaliatory murder by relatives of the person killed in a previous murder case that happened at Wama village.
The deceased was alleged to be a suspect in a previous murder case that was arrested, charged and was to appear at the Waigani Court House but escaped with his co-accused who is his brother before their first mention.
Relatives of the latest murder case retaliated and burnt down houses, and destroyed food crops belonging to relatives of the previous murdered person.
Following the clash a relative of the first murder victim was chopped across her buttocks and is in a critical condition at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
Police said those implicated in the incident are known and believed to be in hiding. Meanwhile,police reinforcements are now monitoring the tense situation.
