DEACON ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL PENETRATION

Manus police have arrested a church deacon for two counts of sexual penetration on a minor.

Manus Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector David Yapu said the suspect, 56 year old George Avou Mwaki of Rei village; Lou Island in Balopa LLG was arrested and charged for two counts of sexual touching.

PPC Yapu said Police alleged that between February 2014 and April 2019 the suspect sexually touched the private parts of the victim who is a minor.  

Yapu said the suspect went to the extent of rubbing his private part on the victim’s private parts and ejaculating on it. The matter was reported to Police by the victim’s mother which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

“Such incidents involving a church leader is immoral and against the church values, principles and brings bad image to the church,”

“In fact the church leaders are supposed to work closely with Police to assist in addressing law and order issues, bring peace and harmony to the people in the community and not involved in such immoral activity,” Yapu stressed.

 

The suspect will appear in Lorengau committal court on tomorrow.
