GOVT TO SETTLE DF UNPAID APEC ALLOWANCE IN 2 WEEKS

"ACP Yamasombi clarified that the issue was not with the members of the police force rather the Defence Force personnel."

The Government say they will settle the remaining unpaid APEC allowance to the PNG Defence Force in two week’s time.

This was made known after members of the Defence Force visited the Manasupe Haus in Port Moresby today in demand for an answer for their unpaid APEC allowances.

NCD/ Central Divisional Commander Donald Yamasombi said the DF personals accompanied by DF Secretary and the DF Chief of staff met with Chief Secretary Isaac Lupari over the issue.

ACP Yamasombi said the members of the DF personnel were adequately addressed by their superiors and dispersed. ACP Yamasombi clarified that the issue was not with the members of the police force rather the Defence Force personnel.

He said police were only there to maintain security over government properties in case anything transpired.

Deputy Commissioner Police Chief of Operations Jim Andrews said the government made a commitment to sort this unpaid allowance issue.

“The Government shouldn’t be questioned, allowance is a one off thing and members of the security forces shouldn’t be crying for this causing inconvenience,“said DCP Andrews.
