KAVIENG HOSPITAL RECEIVES K3.3 MILLION FUNDING FOR OPERATIONS

“We are very happy that we have got some funding and it should be able to last us till the end of the year and hopefully next year February, ” says Hospital CEO Dr Alex Wangnapi.

Kavieng General Hospital has finally received its long awaited funds despite threats to be shut down earlier this year.

Hospital CEO Dr Alex Wangnapi said they received a total of of K3.3 million from the Treasury Department early this month.

“We are very happy that we have got some funding and it should be able to last us till the end of the year and hopefully next year February, ” Dr Wangnapi stressed.

He said apart from previous funding issues, the hospital was facing minor issues like shortage of hand gloves and Malaria drugs which they managedto get a supply for, from other hospitals.

Meanwhile, staff at the Hospital have been facing accommodation issues quite some time.

“We have spent about K1.3 million on staff housing alone recently because the hospital does not have a master place in plan,” said Dr Wangnapi.

“It would be good if staff accommodation was covered in employment packages,” he said.
