LLG ELECTION DATES ANNOUNCED, READY TO COMMENCE

The long awaited Local Level Government (LLG) Elections will now proceed with revised dates approved today by the caretaker Minister for Inter-Government Relations Richard Maru.

Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato said under these revised dates the Electoral Commission will have to work under a very tight schedule to successfully deliver the LLG Elections.

Mr.Gamato outlines the new revised dates for the 2019 LLG elections a follows:

Nominations will open and campaign will start on Thursday, 27th of June 2019 and closes on Thursday, 4th of July 2019.

Polling and counting starts on Saturday, 20th of July 2019 and will end on Thursday 25th of July 2019 and the return of Writs will be on Friday, 26th of July 2019.

The Nomination period will be for seven days whilst the campaigning period will be for 14 days.

The polling and counting period will last for 6 days.
