MANUS POLICE ARREST SECOND SUSPECT IN WILFUL MURDER

"The suspect a 28 year old Sorou James from Derembat village was arrested and charged by the CID members for Wilful Murder of Gabriel Kirah from the same village."

Manus police made a second arrest for a wilful murder case which occurred at the Derembat Village in 2011.

Manus Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector David Yapu said the suspect a 28 year old Sorou James from Derembat village was arrested and charged by the CID members for Wilful Murder of Gabriel Kirah from the same village.

PPC Yapu said police alleged that the deceased Gabriel Kirah after drinking with friends was walking home when he was confronted by the suspect with his accomplices who struck him with a piece of timber on the back of his head resulting in his death.

PPC Yapu said the suspects then carried the deceased to his house, tied a rope around his neck and hung him on the veranda at his home under the pretext he committed suicide.

He said post mortem reports confirmed that the deceased sustained fatal head injury which caused his death.

PPC said police had earlier arrested one of the prime suspects Guise Bukon from the same village while the second suspect appeared in Lorengau District court last Friday for mention.
