MANUS POLICE CONCERNED IN THE INCREASE OF SEXUAL OFFENCE CASES

Manus police have raised concerns on the increasing sexual offense cases in the province in recent times.

Police in the province have reported an increase of sexual offenses in Manus Province and a worrying situation for the province.Manus Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector David Yapu said recently two suspects raped a disable female victim at Ward 5 in Lorengau town.

The suspect was arrested and now in Police custody whilst his accomplice is still on run.In another incident a father took her daughter into the bush to cut firewood and sexually penetrated her.

“The father continued for six (6) consecutive times and the daughter came to town and reported the matter to Police”, said PPC Yapu.

The incident occurred at Matahai village, Bipi Island on Bisikani/Soparibeu LLG few months ago and was reported recently by the victim that led to the arrest.  

Police arrested the suspect Christopher So-on Ndrokoiun age 45 years of Matahai village, Bipi Island and appeared in Lorengau Committal court last week and is remanded in custody.
