O’NEILL WITHDRAWS PM NOMINATION SHORTLY AFTER ACCEPTING

"However, shortly after accepting, O’Neill withdrew his nomination saying he accepted the nomination to test the motion of Vote of No Confidence."

Ialibu Pangia Member and outgoing Prime Minister Peter O’Neill accepted the Prime Minister nomination only to withdraw shortly after.

“It’s only fair that the country knows that I have been defeated properly on the floor of parliament and it is with great pleasure that I accept the nomination”, O’Neill said.

O’Neill was nominated by Aitape-Lumi Member Patrick Pruaitch earlier when the speaker asked for nominations and was seconded by Vanimo Green Member Belden Namah.

However, shortly after accepting, O’Neill withdrew his nomination saying he accepted the nomination to test the motion of Vote of No Confidence.

“Because yesterday they (Opposition) put a motion on the floor of parliament so I wanted to test the motion, but unfortunately that motion wasnot able to come to the floor of parliament today.

“In that respect, I will withdraw that nomination.” O’Neill said.
