Opposition Leader Patrick Pruaitch and Shadow Attorney General Kerenga Kua reiterated this after a disappointing parliament session this afternoon.

Opposition Leader Patrick Pruaitch said despite this the opposition remains focused and is moving ahead to place a motion of Vote of No Confidence (VONC) against the Prime Minister.

The 50 men Opposition lodged the motion of VONC notice to the speaker’s office as of this afternoon after the parliament session. However, the opposition showed disappointment with the way the speaker of parliament handled the motion on the floor of parliament.

“This afternoon what the speaker displayed in the floor of parliament is a show of lack of impartiality”,

“Speaker is a leader and the chairman of the Parliament Private Business Committee (Committee that sits to determine the validity of the motion and the VONC), “said Pruaitch.

Parliament Speaker Job Pomat.

Pruaitch said he is the chairman and the also the deputy leader of the Peoples National Congress Party.

“Those were the basis of us (Opposition) to undertake this afternoon in getting rid of him”,

“Because there’s definitely a direct conflict of interest on his part”, said Pruaitch.

This was why the attempt by the opposition surfaced on the floor of parliament. However, they were unable to get to the secret ballot for a vote as the government demonstrated its parliamentary strength in winning by 59 votes to 50 from the opposition.
