SIDELINING OF TONDOP A MANAGEMENT DECISION

“The decision has been made by the management and I cannot say why,” he said.

Acting Police Commissioner and Chief of Operations Jim Andrews said the sidelining of Southern Highlands Province top cop Joseph Tondop was a management decision.

ACP Andrews made this statement when responding to questions as to why Tondop was sidelined. He said, “The suspension is a management decision and we cannot stay like that we have to move on.”

“The decision has been made by the management and I cannot say why,” he said.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Patrick Pruaitch in a statement said, “It is disheartening to hear Prime Minister Peter O’Neill condemn the now sidelined Southern Highlands Provincial Police Commander, Joseph Tondop, for the Commander’s spirited call for politicians to return to their province to listen to the grievances of their constituents.

He said Police Commander Tondop did not call on politicians to solve law and order issues. Instead he was calling on them to address reasons for the breakdown in law and order, which lead to the recent violence in Mendi.
