YOUTHS ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL ROAD BLOCKS

"The youths have been involved in on-going road blocks and unnecessary harassment on the travelling public in the area while demanding hefty fines from commuters until police intervened."

Police in Nipa, Southern Highlands Province have arrested youths responsible for illegal the setup of road blocks near Nipa Secondary School.

“Three of them were arrested and a home-made gun, a bush knife and an axe were confiscated from them while the other four escaped”, said Nipa Police Station Commander David Onglo.

Onglo said the youths have been involved in on-going road blocks and unnecessary harassment on the travelling public in the area while demanding hefty fines from commuters until police intervened.

“Those arrested will are detained at the Mendi Police lock up and will be processed.”

Onglo issued a stern warning to other youths to respect the rule of law and stay out of trouble or face the brunt of the law.
