PNG’s leading Tok Pisin radio station Yumi FM is working in partnership with the PNG Cancer Foundation to run a campaign program Yumi FM White November MausGrass Campaign 2018.
The program aims to do awareness to men and boys about maintaining their health to avoid cancer and to raise much needed funds that will be donated to the PNG Cancer Foundation to assist men and boys with cancer.
The White Ribbon Sausage sizzle began this morning at the PNGFM office main car park at Gordons to raise funds for this cause and will continue on Friday this week.
Yumi FM Program Director Vivian “Tuluan Viits” Dumit said,“Some men today are affected by prostate and breast cancer also, but little to no attention is given to them unlike towards the ladies. That’s why Yumi FM has come up with this initiative to help them, and are backed by PNG Cancer Foundation”.
She explained that, “Many men in our country do have prostate cancer but we do not take that seriously and blame it on other things,so the program also aims to make awareness about men and boys health.”
Yumi FM will host fundraising activities within the month of November and the money raised will be given to the PNG Cancer Foundation.
Ms Dumit said, “In PNG we don’t have any special facilities to deal with male patients suffering from prostate cancer, so the funds given to PNG Cancer Foundation will help these patients in a little way.”
She said the PNG Cancer Foundation is very pleased with this partnership arrangement.
