NEW IRELAND RECORDS SECOND CASE

The case travelled from Buka in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville and was experiencing sore throat at the time of testing. He is currently isolated. As of 6 November, 11 contacts in New Ireland have been identified. Further contact tracing is ongoing. This latest case brings the total cases in New Ireland to two and 599 for the country. Of the total cases, 585 people have recovered from COVID-19 whilst there are seven active cases that are being isolated. PNG reported seven COVID-19 deaths. To date, 29,466 people have been tested for corona virus. Additional 66 samples are pending laboratory results. Fifteen provinces (including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville) have confirmed COVID-19 cases:

Globally, since the start of the outbreak, there have been a total 49,572,828 confirmed cases and the death toll stands at 1,246,9499. There was an increase of 551,343 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours. In the Western Pacific Region, a total of 14 countries/territories had confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases for the region to 760,308 cases and 15,903 deaths.
