GG MEETS WITH PRESIDENT JINPING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Governor General H.E Sir Bob Dadae met with Chinese President H.E Xi Jinping behind closed doors at the parliament today.

Much of the private discussion could not be disclosed but President Jinping indicated briefly China’s continued commitment in strengthening trust and corporation with PNG.

President Xi said on the eve of the global leaders’ summit China had no doubt in PNG hosting the APEC commencing tomorrow.

“As Papua New Guinea’s good friend and partner there is no doubt in our mind that PNG will organize the best and successful APEC meet,” said President Jinping.

He anticipates a wonderful and event –filled occasion by the host country and the entire Pacific region.  

President Xi said China was engaging in strategic decisions and promises to stand together with developing countries like PNG to enhance corporation and trust.  

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said he believes PNG’s bilateral ties with China will improve and grow the country’s economy.

O’Neill welcomed the support by China and is confident in extending strong relationships between both countries.
